Middleton's a funny mix of two different housing worlds, and it changes what junk removal looks like depending where you're at. Drive through West Highlands, Stonehaven, or Carlton Meadows and you're in tighter, newer subdivisions — garage cleanouts, old furniture, appliances headed out the door. Head toward the Boise River and the lots open up fast: one-acre-plus places with room for a shed, an old corral, or junk that's been piling up for years because nobody got around to it.
Then there's the older part of town near Main St, where Middleton's farming roots still show. Homes that have been in a family a while tend to have more tucked into garages, barns, and sheds than a newer place ever would. That's where a property cleanout or a hoarder cleanout actually takes some thought — not because it's complicated, just because there's more of it to work through.
Light demo comes up a lot out here too — sheds, decks, hot tubs that have outlived their usefulness, especially on the bigger lots. If a shed's a decent size, the city has permit rules for accessory structures over 200 square feet, so that's worth sorting out before anything comes down, separate from the hauling itself.

Permits, the Landfill, and Middleton's Spring Clean-Up
If you're tearing down a shed or anything else, Middleton's code is specific about when a permit applies. City Code 4-1-1(N) only requires a demolition permit when part of a non-agricultural structure is coming down — taking down the whole thing doesn't trigger it. The Building Department is at 1103 W Main St if you want to check before anyone starts.
For loads that need to go to the dump yourself, Canyon County residents can haul to Pickles Butte Sanitary Landfill off Missouri Ave south of Nampa. It takes regular household and cleanup waste, plus things like tires, refrigeration units, and batteries for a fee — but it won't take motor homes or driveable vehicles, hazardous waste, or out-of-county waste without approval. Loads need to be covered too, or there's a fee for that.
The city also runs a Spring Clean-Up the third full week of April, with unlimited trash, bundles, carpet, and bulk items picked up free — except anything with Freon, like fridges and AC units. That's usually where we come in, since those have to be handled separately either way.

Do I need a permit to tear down an old shed in Middleton?+
It depends on what's coming down. The city's code only requires a demolition permit when part of a non-agricultural structure is being removed — tearing down the whole structure doesn't trigger that rule. Worth a quick call to the Middleton Building Department at 1103 W Main St if you're not sure which applies.
Can I just haul my own junk to the landfill instead of calling someone?+
